ENTERTAINMENT LIGHTING BEHIND THE SCENES OF THE ELITE MODEL LOOK FINAL SHOW
The main place of the 29th Elite Model Look World Final took place on December 1st at the luxury Shanghai Cultural Plaza. For this project we conceived the lighting design based on our wide experience in lighting and video content design for theaters, dance plays and for fashion runways.
The lighting equipment was chosen with special attention to the location and requirements of theatrical techniques in order to create unique atmospheres for 4 distinguished scenes.

The 2 main elements in the scenography were the catwalk for the models and two LED screens of 11,50 m x 6m on each side of the scene. The central screen was dynamic, controlled up and down, marking special moments of the show and playing with dramatic entrances.
The 4 themes of the show were: “Airport”, with specific set design elements and giant stairs; “Hotel Lobby”, with a bridge, stairs and replacement of the central stage by giant infinity mirror; “Concert of Jessie J”, playing with private, but dynamic atmosphere and custom made moving chandeliers, and last but not least, the “Finale” scene, with the coronation of new World Model Finalist Marilhéa Peillard from France & a big show with the DJ Sinclair’s concert.
In terms of lighting equipment, we used 72 sharpies, 158 VL 3000/3500, 2km of LED strips, 4 LED screens, 24 Atomic Strobos and a Grand MA 2 console to program our lighting.

ARCHITECTURAL LIGHTING
FOCUS ON “KOOPGOOT” PROJECT IN ROTTERDAM
We have the pleasure to announce the finalization of the project “Koopgoot” in Rotterdam, the common name for an underground walkway and shopping passage that continues under the main traffic artery of the Coolsingel. It also integrates the metro station and interconnects two existing shopping areas: the Hoogstraat and the Lijnbaan. Thanks to the successful long-term collaboration between CBRE, the main player on the Real Estate market, Architekten Cie, renowned architects from Netherlands and our architectural lighting department, we ensured once again a great result, awarded with BREEAM-NL Existing Building and Usage, a first for a retail project.
ACTLD
CBRE & Architekten Cie took the initiative to develop this area by not only renovating it, but also by upgrading it considerably in order to bring a new atmosphere to this public area and to attract potential investors. ACTLD was commissioned to come up with a made to measure solution matching the specific requirements in terms of lighting design and use of the location.
The main problem consisted in the high contrast level between exterior and interior lighting in the passage, which required a high visual adaptation for the public. On site visits, technical study of the location and observation of the public circulation in the passage allowed us to create a custom lighting design for the entrances, shop fronts and ceiling lighting systems. By creating different light levels by zones, we solved the main problems and answered specific requirements while taking into account renovation & upgrade principles, cost effectiveness and innovative equipment.
ACTLD
An appealing, bright and securing high level of lighting (1000 LUX) was introduced at the entrances of the passage, which competed with outdoors and helped the public to pass from exterior to interior area without feeling any difficulties to adapt its vision nor to perceive interior space. A more subtle and comfortable lighting level (750 & 300 LUX) was used in the middle area, bringing the light level to normal, guiding the public through the space and accompanying it in the central zones. This introduction of 3 different lighting zones also took into account the distinguished lighting of the shop front sides. Their lighting attracted potential customers with a fine play of light contrasts between LED luminaries on the ceiling and the shop front lights, without compromising the original ambiances of each shop.
